Following three highly acclaimed albums, guitarist, Francisco Pais, has been relentlessly exploring new music with some of the most influential young lions in New York City. He is a visionary tour-de-force, who never ceases to push the limits of what can be done in music. He has been developing a reputation as one of the most consistent musicians delivering a multitude of emotions in both his recordings and live concerts that shows anything is possible when you decide to cross over styles of music. He has received rave reviews from the press regarding his shows and also his recordings.

It can be hard to describe what makes a musical collaboration work — there has to be just the right balance of tension and sympathy. Francisco comments, “My goal as a leader is to facilitate a point of entry in my music that will allow everyone’s unique skills and voice to be heard in a bold and honest manner”. This is a new band that will be searching for new sounds by blending Jazz and Fado music.

Marta Pereira da Costa will be joining Francisco’s group as a special guest. She the world’s first professional Portuguese guitar female player in Fado, the soulful music from Portugal recently recognized by UNESCO as part of World’s Intangible Cultural Heritage. In 2014 she was honored by the Amalia Rodrigues Foundation with the “Instrumentalist Award.”

She began to study the Portuguese Guitar through the hand of Carlos Gonçalves, one of the most important Amália Rodrigues guitar players and had the opportunity to play with names like Mariza, Camané and Carlos do Carmo for several occasions. She toured around many countries before starting her solo career.
